- Soak the rice, urad dal and fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Rinse and drain the water.
- Peel, wash and grate the bottle gourd.
- Put the rice, urad dal and fenugreek seeds in a mixer grinder. Add in half of the grated bottle gourd. Grind all these to a smooth batter
- Transfer the batter to a bowl. Add salt to taste and mix well.
- Heat a non-stick pan. Drizzle a few drops of oil. Pour a ladleful of batter onto it and spread it in a circular motion to make a round chilla. Sprinkle a small portion of grated bottle gourd and a pinch of chilli powder over it. Cover and cook on a low flame for 1-2 minutes or until the lower side turns little brownish.
- Uncover and turn the chilla upside down. Cook covered for another 1-2 minutes or until done.
- Repeat the process to make similar chillas with rest of the batter and grated bottle gourd.
- Serve the bottle gourd chilla hot with coconut chutney or green chutney.
