- Take 1 1/2 cup Splitted Gram Dal

- Take 1/4 tsp Salt each (in bottle gourd and gram dal while boiling)
- Get 1/4 tsp Turmeric (1/8 in both while boiling)
- Take 3 tbsp oil
- Make ready 1 tsp mustard seeds
- Get 1/4 tsp asafoetida
- Take 2 Chopped onions
- Make ready 2 Chopped Tomatoes
- Prepare 1 1/2 tbsp green chilli garlic ginger paste
- Make ready To taste Salt
- Get 1/8 tsp Turmeric Powder
- Take 1 tsp red chilli powder
- Take 1 tsp coriandor cumin powder
- Get 1/2 tsp Sabji masala
- Prepare As needed Chopped coriander leaves
Lauki Chana Dal is a nutritious recipe that combined the Bottle Gourd and lentils making it a perfect dish for a wholesome lunch or dinner. Lauki is also known as Doodhi or Giya and one of my favorite dishes while growing up. In the South, we make Kootu with the Lauki that was cooked along with lentils and coconut. When I got married I noticed many similarities with this dish and Kootu.
Instructions to make Dudhi - Chana Dal Sabji (Bottle Gourd And Split Gram Dal):
- Wash and soaked dal for 3-4 hrs. Now take a cooker bowl put dal, water, salt and Turmeric Powder. Dice bottle gourd take in cooker bowl add salt, Turmeric Powder. Mix both.put the bowl in cooker and get 4 whistle. Let cooker get cool down.
- Mean while make gravy. Take a kadhai/ pan on Medium flame add oil, mustard seeds. Let it crackled. Now add asafoetida and Chopped Onions. Saute it till golden.
- Now add green chillies ginger garlic paste, saute it for a min. Add chopped tomatoes. Saute it till it cook and get smashy. Open the cooker dal and bottle gourd is cooked.
- Now add all dry masalas and add salt if required and adjust the taste.
- Now add boiled bottle gourd and boiled dal. Mix it well. Get a boil. Now smash some dal and bottle gourd while boiling in gravy. So that the gravy will become thick.
- Sabji is ready. Add chopped coriander mix it well. Now it's ready to serve with any chapati, roti rice. Enjoy
- Note: while boiling we are adding turmeric in bottle gourd because it want change the colour once it get boiled. If we will not add Turmeric bottle gourd become black after boiled.

Lauki chana dal recipe is a simple bottle gourd and split bengal gram curry. Lauki / ghiya / doodhi is generally considered bland and does not come under the list of favorite veggies for many, in spite of its numerous health benefits. Dudhi chana ni daal nu shaak (Lauki Chana Dal - Bottle gourd and Bengal gram curry) is authentic and common Gujarati veg.
