  2. Take 1/2 cup urad dal (soaked overnight)

  14. Take 2-4 green red chillies cut in halves

  16. Take 1 tsp coriander powder
  17. Prepare 2 tsp Oil
  18. Prepare 1 tsp Jaggery or shakkar

Idli Sambar are a typical South Indian breakfast that has become popular across the globe for it's soft spongy Idlis and lipsmackingly delicious Sambar. Idli Sambar is a complete food in itself as it contains all the essential nutrients, minerals and vitamins that are essential for your overall health. Different vegetables like beans, carrot, drumstick, etc. present in the sambar provide enough fiber that aides your digestive health. Moreover, idlis are steamed and sambar contains very little.

Instructions to make Idli and Bottle-gourd Sambhar:
  1. Grind the rice and urad dal and mix together. Put into a large container and let it ferment. After it is fermented add salt and grease the idli stand. Pour a small quantity of batter in stand and steam for around 5-7 mins. Take out if a toothpick inserted in it stands clean.
  2. Heat the oil, add mustard add some seeds, curry patta, urad dal, chana dal, chillies etc. Add turmeric, coriander, jaggery and sauté for a couple of min.
  3. Boil soaked chana dal and lauki along with some salt and cook until done. Add this lauki, chana dal to the Tadka and cook for a few more minutes.
  4. Serve this when hot.
